On Feb 14, 1787, Benjamin Berryman bought land from Richard Jacks & his wife Mary of Surry Co VA. He paid 1 sorrel mare, a bridle and 18 knives & forks for this land which was formerly owned by Mary Brinegar.

Benjamin Berryman and his brother John Berryman of Fauquier Co., VA had both bought land on Sam’l Bryan’s Mill Creek Rowan Co NC in 1784. On the 1977 Custom House map of Davie Co, NC, both the Berrymans are shown adjacent to Mary Brinegar. All three land dates are given as 1784.

On Sept 10, 1788, Benjamin & Anna sold 180a of land to Edger Rembly for L35.

This may be of help with the dates of purchase and sale. Even the knives & forks may be important as they may have shown up in an inventory. I would appreciate further information concerning the Berryman family of Davie Co. I believe I received this information from Bob McAlear in 1996, however it is probably also published. Thanks, Marv
