I just wanted to summarize what we had learned so far and see if I had missed anything... If we assume: 1) The Bible Record of Richard Jacks, Jr. is correct and Richard Jacks Sr of Surry, NC died Nov 17, 1831 and that Mary Jacks died Jul 7, 1822 2) The Brinegar/Jacks Court case (which no one has acutally seen) really states "[Richard Jacks] died Feb. 1822, and there was no privy examination of Mary who died Apr., 1821 3) On July 9, 1844 Mary Jacks appeared before Justice of Peace in Surry County NC, stating that she was 78 years old and gave testimony for proof of revolutionary service for her brother William Mullins(decd 1810) who married Sarah Triplett. Then we must conclude: 1) Richard Jacks, Sr. (whose will was written in 1828 and proven in early 1832, thus tending to support the death date given in the Richard Jacks, Jr. Bible) DID NOT marry either Mary BRINEGAR or Mary MULLINS TRIPPLET. This leaves me wondering: 1) Did Richard Jacks, Sr. really remarry or was the Mary Jacks who died in 1822 really his first wife and mother of his children? 2) Who was the Richard Jacks who DID marry Mary BRINEGAR? 3) Who was the Richard Jacks who married Mary Tripplet in 1806 in Wilkes County? We now know that it WASN'T Richard Jacks, Jr. Things were seeming much more simple before the start of this exercise... Thomas E. Jacks Gilbert, Arizona
