We are descended of Richard b 1739, but instead of his son Richard b1780, my ancestor is his son Jobe b 1786 in Surry NC. Jobe was the father to Clayton B 1813 - my gr gr grandfather. Clayton's son is James R (Raymond or Richard) Jacks b 1850 married to Mary Celestine Riggle. James R died 20 June 1931 Minneapolis MN. Mary died 4 Jan 1952 Phoenix AZ. I verified the earlier Thomas and Richards in Thomas E. Jacks book "A History of the Jacks Family in Alabama, North Carolina and Maryland" Library of Congress Cat #97-70679. Also, published Wills furnished me by Robert W (Bill) Jacks, knoxville, TN. Now I am trying to find who Thomas' parents were - they probably immigrated via England, but that is unproven. I really never had no idea there were so many "Jacks" and so many similar given names. Makes finding the right one hard. Thanks for your response. In a way we are related somewhere back in time.
