Asch was pretty small and the Jacobers I found in the church records appear to all be related so there's a good chance I'm related somehow to your grandfather's family. The time frame fits in with the approximate emigration from Switzerland. I show a Joachim Jacober who was born in 1639 (not sure where) but marrying in Wuerttemberg in 1664. He married Anna Braun and had Hanns (possibly Johannes). I don't have any other siblings for him. Johannes married Maria Scheck in 1700 in Asch and had at least 6 kids. He also married previously Anna Goll and had 4 children from that marriage. Thirdly he married Anna Hottmeyer but had no children by her.
I have two generations before Joachim, Georg and Jacob. I don't have families for them, though. I'd be very interested in knowing more about your grandfather's family. Please let me know what you find out from your Mom.
