My Great grandfather came to the US from Alcase (sp?) Loraine (Prussia) in the early 1900's. When he came here they missed spelled his name and he never worried about fixing it, besides most people could not pronounce it any way. He never (to my knowledge) used it again. He left Alsace Loraine because he had already served his hitch in the military and his brother fled to the US so they said he would also have to serve his brother's hitch. I know he had a sister who came over and settled in the New Jersey area and according to my grandfather's notes married a man connected to a large transfer and storage company. Later his other sister came to the US and lived for awahile in both New York and Oklahoma and finally settled in Oregon--her and her husband used to own the funeral parlor in St. Helens, OR. My great grandfather married Adah Boone. They lived for awaile in Oklahoma and then moved to Oregon--the Portland/Scappoose area. They had 3 boys and 1 girl. My grandfather was the second oldest. He married Norma Jean Dezine (Married name) Forbes (maiden name) she had 2 daughters by her first husband and my uncle Wayne and my mother by Alfred (my grandfather) My mother married Leonard Anicker. They had 4 children and I am the eldest. I am looking for any information on my great grandfather's family. I know they owned property in the Alcase Loraine. the last name was spelled Jacober, but then there were more letters after that and my grat Aunt belives there was a "T" somewhere in there. Can any one help me? It would be gratly appreciated.
