I am searching on Meshack Jacobs as a direct descendant of his. The 1860 census for Cherokee Co., TX lists his birthplace as 1828 in Alabama. Both George and Meshack enlisted in the war with Mexico in Rusk Co., Tx in 1846 within a week of each other. http://www.ladytexian.com/TXRusk/military/countians.htm

Sounds like there may be a link somewhere, just not sure where.
