Trying to research my family.

I'm really interested in my family tree, but nobody ever talks about my dad's side of the family. He doesn't get along with them at all, so most of my life we've pretended they don't exist. He also gets fairly angry when we mention them at all, so I can't really ask him about it.

The only things I know are that my grandfather's name is Jasper Jacobus (goes by J. David Jacobus) and he married Gladys Carey. They have four children - James (my father), Jon (maybe Jonathan?), Janice, and Jeffrey. To the best of my knowledge, they all still have the Jacobus last name. They're originally from New Jersey (I know they lived in Dover, not sure if that's where they're from originally though), and they currently live in Florida.

If anyone possibly knows my grandfathers parents history, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks.
