Hi Jacquie, Thanks for your information. You probably already know about the Mary Ann Bottomley (b. 1811) who married Squire Jagger of Northowram. Squire was a son of
Jeremiah Jagger & Esther Terry.
Have you run across any ties between Jagger & Hallas? Some Hallas cousins of West Yorkshire reportedly visited my great-grandfather James Jagger in Illinois. I don’t know
who these Hallas were, but I have miscellaneous data on Hallas connections to Jagger,Pickles & Bottomley.
My great-great-grandparents were John & Mary Hardiman Jagger; she was born in 1803, & he probably was a bit younger than she; they were married 25 Dec., 1827 in Halifax. I don’t know John’s ancestry, but I have a few suspects. E.g. on 16 Febr., 1806 there were 2 weddings: Jonathan Jagger, coalminer of Shelf, married Susey Pinder of Northowram;& William Jagger, labourer of Shelf, married Hannah Hartley of Northowram. Do you have anything on these people?
Have you been to West Yorkshire? I belong to the Calderdale Family History Society, which has been helpful. I wrote an article about my Jagger & Hardyman kin, and this appeared in the Sept. ‘03 issue of “The Scrivener”, the publication of the CFHS.
