I haven't come accross Pinder, Hartley and Hallas yet. I've got a bit stuck to tell the truth. Jagger is such a common name to that bit of Halifax, but is very rare anywhere else in England. I haven't yet traced Thomas's siblings, presumably should be at least half a dozen or so, and still have a lot of work to do. I know my Gt Gt Grandmother Jane Jagger was a cousin or second cousin to "J W Jagger" (John William Jagger)who became something big in the South African government, he was a staunch methodist who bequethed a lot of money to a coloured school and a public library. One amusing thing though was my Gt Grandfather was an engineer in the Gold mines for a few years, and went to call on JW, and he didn't let him in the house!! Must have thought he was after his money or something.

I actually live only 3 miles from Northowram and go past Coley Church and Heywood's Chapel (now called something else I've forgotten what just now) quite often (full of Jagger's in the graveyard etc)!! Northowram is still a nice place and is one of the best areas in Halifax, it has some nice views and farmland around it. I will give the Calderdale family history society a try.
