Hi,
I'm hoping someone out there may have information relating to my gggg grandfather, Stephen Jernigan.
He was born sometime around 1805 in NC (according to the info I have). I don't know which county, however.
He had moved to Smith County, MS by 1840. His wife was named Keziah, and I strongly believe this was Keziah Coleman, daughter of Dempsey Coleman, of Columbus County, NC.
Their children were Harris (b. about 1829), Eliza (or Elizabeth, born 1832 married to Jacob Blakeney), Lucy Ann (b. 1835, married to Alvin Blakeney), Rosada, Susannah, and Francis (born 1841).
I have seen info that a Stephen Jernigan lived in Columbus County, NC, but this one is too old to have been the person I'm looking for, but it could possibly be his father.
If anyone has any information, I'd be happy to hear from you!
