Isaac & Mary (Smith) Jessup of IN

I have been looking for a long time for my family. My GGGgrandfather was Isaac Jessup respectivly born in NJ 1789-married a Mary Smith from Kentucky (which I am looking more for-will get back to her)- Isaac had a brother Walter (my GGGuncle)who married Rachel Smith also from Kentucky (persumably Mary's sister)Isaac son was Lewis Baily Jessup -my GGgrandfather- (whom I have a photo of and war records) married to Chloe Culp from North Carolina- in turn they had my Ggrandmother Mary Patty Jessup who married Ira Bennitt- and my grandparents are Ken and Bessie (Bennitt) Eckert of New Carlisle Indiana. What I have been told down through the family and have seen photos, we have American Indian in our family. I am "hoping" someone out here knows and can help me. I don't think it came from the Jessup line, but I do know it was an eastern tribe from what I have ever heard. Though it could have come in from the Smith side in Kentucky, or the Culp side from N.C. I am hoping after searching for more then 22 years that the answer will be out there. They always say that someone somewhere knows. It would even be wonderful to find the Smith side of the family. My grandmother Bessie, told and showed me papers her father, and fathers father had wrote about that lineage-but they disappered after she died. I hope someone can help me. Thank you.
