Hi!
In the 1900 census, George, Esther and family are living in Grayson County, Texas. They are right next door to what I presume is her father, Joshua J. JOHNSON, born Jan 1836, Tennessee, Lozan(??) JOHNSON, born Aug 1874 in TX and mary J. born Sept 1881, TX.
From there I went backwards and found the family still in Grayson county, listed by their first initials in the 1880 census (I hat it when they do that!): J.J. JOHNSON, wife R.J. Johnson, kids were: M.E>, a sixteen year old daughter, W.M. a male, E.C. an 8 yearld female (Believe this to be Esther), and a five year old son, L.P.D. Again, going backwards in time we have in the 1870 census in Cook County, TX, Gainesville P.O.: (the first name, head of household is really a mess--could be any of the following): Janeah, Jonuah, Joshua, age 36, wife Rhoda J., born MIssouri age 31, Sarah E. age 6 born MIssouri, William M. a one year old son born Missouri, and a 16 year old female named Kansas JONES who was without occupation, born TX
there may or may not be some helpful info for you at: www.familysearchlabs.org
All the best, Sally in Michigan
