The first three generations of this lineage have been brought to light by the painstaking researches of Mr. Hugh B. Johnston, Jr., of Wilson N. Carolina, and have been meticulously documented. The family is thought to be descended from Johnstons of Annandale, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.
