Judy,
Check the info in my post #9080.

Land records showed the following Johnstons: William (sr.), Robert, James, Joseph & John who bought/sold land in the same settlement in Newberry Co. SC. between 1757-1775. William and Robert seem to be brothers; I don't know how the rest of the Johnstons are related if at all. In the 1790s William (jr., son of sr. above) and possibly some of the others moved to Caldwell Co. KY.

I don't know how Wm. sr., and Robert got to Newberry Co. The father-in-law of my ancestor, Wm. jr. was said to be from Spotsylvania, VA so I was working on that area as their point of origination. Maybe they did come from Charles Town, SC.

Does this provide you with any leads that would be helpful to either one of us?
