Looking for information re: Rev. Robert Pue Johnston (RP).
He was born in Mississippi about 1849, died in Cochise, Arizona in 1915. Married Paralee Sherfield in Oklahoma. Had about 8 children with her. In the 1810 census, he lists his father from Mississippi
I heard someone refer to him as "Grandpa Pue," though he seemed to go by "RP." In spite of being an itinerant preacher, I have been told that he could barely read or write. Thus, "Pue" may be misspelled. There is also a family rumor that he may have changed his name and moved to avoid post-Civil War violence.
