I have always been interested in the story behind Elizabeth Keckley and just read her book, Behind The Scenes, Thirty Years a Slave, Four Yeas in the White House. Her husband was James Keckley from Virginia. Since a couple of the lines had plantations and did own slaves, I have been curious if he came from one of ours. Unfortunately, Elizabeth won't give info on him because the marriage was a disaster and she wouldn't speak ill of him. Anyone read the book or know what I'm talking about!!!
