Katherine, I am a direct descendant of Joseph Kaser I (1776-1842)who died in Holmes County, OH. He moved there from PA in the very early 1800s with many children including several sons, Joseph, George, Jonathan and others. My line descends from Jonathan to Lewis to William to Harwood to Gerald to me. Some descendants of Joseph (many still living in the Holmes County area) have published a book on Joseph and his descendants available through the Mormon library. The contributors were not sure of Joseph's lineage, but surmised that as Swiss. Early census takers often misspelled the Kaser name, with Joseph and his sons, for example, variously appearing in census records as Keiser, Keyser, etc. Do I understand your note to indicate that Joseph I was a descendant of Johan Peter Keyser (father?)& Nicholas Keiser (grandfather?) and by Palitine is that the region known as the Rhineland Palatinate in Germany. Do you know when and how Nicholas & Johan emigrated to America. Thank you for providing this very interesting information.
