William Kenny

I am looking to see if anyone has a William Kenny (born 1830-1834) in their family tree who moved to Ayr,Scotland c. 1850-1857. William was a journeyman shoemaker. I find it difficult to believe that he would be an only child.

His father (also named William) was deceased by 1857 (since this is indicated on his son's marriage certificate). His mother was named Alice (her maiden surname was also Kenny according to the certificate).

No pressure - the registrar has William's place of birth as "Ireland".

William was probably Church of Ireland since he was married in an Anglican Church (although research shows that many Roman Catholics "forgot" what their religion was owing to Ayrshire being a Protestant stronghold).
