Does the Kessler project have a website where the results are posted so that all kessler descendants can benefit from the tests? Without it, I won't encourage my cousins to participate. The $99 12-marker test is too limited. It produces too many false negatives as well as false positives. Participants need to consider at least the $148, 25-marker test. DNA testing for genealogical purposes is an important tool for those of us researching our families. I have been tested along with several "cousins." You can find the results of the Wright project at http://www.wright-dna.org/dna/R1b1Results.html Look for the gray matching group "1776 William." Look at the results in this group for Kits 13974 and 20194, the first two in the group tested -- proven sixth cousins, but the 12-marker results say we are unrelated. This is a false negative. The latest cousin tested is #94268. Based on the test results so far, he appears to have the "signature DNA" of our immigrant ancestor. Look at the two kits from the National Geographic Project, #N6463 and N48391. Finding these matches really proves the worth of DNA testing. No paper trails exist to show that either of these Wrights are related to each other or to any of the others. But N6463 with only 12 markers tested could be a false positive. However after seeing the test results, we found some collateral documentary evidence that suggests that he could be related. Finally look at Kit #11697+ "John" in light green about six lines above our gray group. This man is closely related to N48391 in our group. But the 12-marker test again showed a false negative and because of this he cannot be included as related to our group. I also have a webpage discussing in more detail the results of these tests http://www.hal-pc.org/~wmewrght/WrightDNA.html/ So please encourage the Kessler administrator to post the results on a website like most of the other projects do.
