Are these Kinnes descended from the Kinneys/Kinnes/Keenes/Keanes/Kenneys/Kennys/Kaynes/etc who traveled with the Skinners, Lords, and other families from MA to CT to Dutchess, NY then to the Wyoming Valley area of PA (the Susquehannah and Delaware Purchases)?

If so, then they probably descend from Martha Kinne's family (wife of Joseph Skinner, a Susquehannah Company proprieter).

Do you have Robert Latham Kinne's obituary? If not, PJ isn't awfully far from me and I want to go there anyhow in the next few months as I have these Skinner/Kinne/other relatives who lived in the area in my tree. I could put him on my 'obits to get' list. The Port Jervis Free Library has microfilmed PJ newspapers that go at least 50 years beyond 1890, if I remember correctly.

Over at the Skinner board, I posted Matilda 8 Skinner's obit (1809-1894) (Joseph 7, Daniel 6, Joseph 5, Ebeneezar 4, Thomas 4, Thomas 2, Henry of Salem) where it states that her mother was Mercy Kinney, I'm guessing another Kinne family descendant, though I haven't gotten around to examining her yet.

The history of these two families (and the others associated with them) holds great fascination for me. Not only are the lines very intertwined, but they EMBODY the concept of 'Manifest Destiny'! They went in one generation from Salem, MA--->Preston, CT--->Dutchess County, NY--->PA/NJ border of the Delaware River (now PA/NY border), moving with the frontier. Their children expanded their envelops further by emigrating to Canada, OH, IN, NE.

They had a lot more spunk than I ever had.
