My grandmother Phoebe Kinney was adopted and it was hard to trace her line. What I know I have put on Ancestry.com and we think that the DNA tests take this family back to Henry Kinne/Kinney of Massachusetts. In Essex County NY it was sometimes spelled Kenney.
My father married as his firs wife his cousin Druzilla Kinney from Castleton VT (Rutland County) and I have put her lineage in the ancestry.com file also. If you would like to view these ancestral lines please let me know or go to ancestry.com and look at the Kinney Torrance file . Phoebe Kinney was adopted by the Torrance family and lived on a farm in North Elba , just outside Lake Placid, Essex NY. Any corrections or additions you have to these files would be helpful.
