Nellie Kinney, age 86 years of Walkover Street, broke her earthly bonds. She was one month shy of her 87th year on this plane. As in her life, she finished her job here with quiet dignity and without fear. Nellie was born in Dauphin Manitoba on August 8th, 1920 to her loving parents Michael and Dora Magalas. Her family consisted of seven sisters and one brother. Nellie was the last surviving member. In the early 1940‘s, Nellie moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario with her husband Lenard (Mickey) Kinney where they had one son, Michael George Robert. Nellie worked as supervisor in the laundry department at the Airlane Motor Hotel for eighteen years. All those whom she touched, grew to love and respect “Nellie”. Nellie is survived by her immediate family in Thunder Bay: her son Michael; nephews: Ken Scott (June) and their family, and Eric Johnson (Lois) and their family. Also left to mourn are her nephews: Fred (Vi) Lesychen and their children, and Arnie Dawson (Darlene); niece Inez (Jim) Lillies, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and nieces: Jackie Marsh of Montreal, and Donna in Toronto. Nellie also had a large extended family: #2 son Douglas Adamson (Lori) and their children: Rodger Deschanes, Terry Cella (Marlene), Robert J. Dixon (Vancouver), Rod Macdonald (Vancouver), Ken Tranor (Calgary), and also, the entire Lecky and Davidson Families who were very near to her. Nellie loved them as if they were her own and they all have many wonderful memories of her. She was predeceased by her husband Mickey in the early 1980‘s. Funeral Services for the late Nellie Kinney will be held on Saturday, July 14th at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla, V.G. of St. Patrick‘s Cathedral. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the time of Service. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Nellie‘s memory to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation. “What we are she was What she is we shall all become Taken for all and all we shall not see her like again” The family would like to express their sincere thank you to Dr. Krupa for your care and understanding over the years. You were Nellie‘s “Go to guy”. A large vote of thanks to Dr. Sinha and Dr. Milne as well. To the nurses on the 4th floor at St. Joseph‘s Hospice Unit, you were truly “Angels of Mercy”. Thanks to all of you for taking such good care of Mom. Notify Administrator about this message?
