David Knapp was known to be a loyalist and had a child named Aquila as well as two daughters Anna and Priscilla. I don't know if this fits or helps you at all. Stephen Sands does appear on muster reports for Col Shank's regiment but appears to have been taken as a POW early on. Abstracts of Wills Vol VI 1760-1766 Page 310.- 9 October, 1760 JOHN SANDS, Jr., of Cow Neck, Hempstead, Queens County, wife, Elizabeth Sands, son Robert, son John, son Cornwall Sands, 5 youngest sons, Robert, Comfort, Stephen, Richardson, and Joshua.
