Knipe Family Genealogy Forum

To Anne - The General Register Office for Scotland reveals very few Knipes in Scotland late 1800s, early 1900s.The 1881 census has a total of 18 persons with Knipe as the last name. The adults born before the mid 1860s were mostly born in Ireland. A Charlotte Knipe went to Scotland at the same time as my family of John and Matilda. Her husband was William Knipe.Charlotte's parent's were Thomas Knipe and Margaret Fleming. They lived near John and Matilda in Lanark County,Scotland. Charlotte died in 1902 at the age of 71. She was a widow(I have her death certificate). I don't know what her relationship to John and Matida was.Maybe you can shed some light on this for me.Also a William Knipe died in 1909 in Glasgow, age 59. His father was William Knipe. You mentioned that you have the marriage certificqate for Matida and John. Can you tell me where to apply for these certificates in Ireland. All my info has come from Scotland. The only reason I know John Knipe's father was also called John is because his death certificate stated this. His son-in-law who filled out the form did not know John's mother's name. Thank you for your time. Donna
