Hello, i am the great grandson of william kortkamp, one of three brothers who came from prussia with their father. the family settled in illinois to run coal minning business. After the coal dried up the family apparently split up, my side of the family moved to michigan, others apparently moved west or stayed in illinois,St Louis area. The town in illinois that the family originally lived in was called Kortkamp. It is family recollection that one of the sons stayed behind in germany in the military. My mother was born in illinois in 1919. Her generation is pretty much gone so it is up to mine to pass any knowledge of the family down while were still alive. Hope this helps you out.
