Hi,

I do not know whether you could help me, but it's worth a try. My great-great grandfather was supposedly August Carl Krause (anothr name possible is Frederick Thomas Carl Krause) and was born somewhere in Germany/ prussia around 1855. He joined the British forces in the Crimean war and came to South AFrica to fight - because of the nature of the war (he was fighting against his own countrymen and their allies) he could not return to his country and settled in South Africa. Do you perhaps have any information such as parents names things like that, I am running into a stone wall. Any info on the family branch that came to South AFrica.

My Grandfather was also August Carl b.April 1909 and his father was Edward (Eduard?) Hermann Krause b. 1883 South AFrica.

Thank you in advance

Yolanda
