He came to the USA in 1853 alone abroad the SS Stateman arriving in New Orleans according to the passenger list index. I don't have any other information on his family back in Germany. I don't know if these two could possibly be related. (I think the name KRAUSS is a common name in Germany, much like Smith or Jones is in the USA.)
