Can any Krouse help? Many Krouch names!

I am seeking any info at all on the surname Krouch. The oldest one related is a James Krouch born 1828 in Washington county,Maryland. My problem is I can not find ANYTHING as far as where he came from? Who his parents were? What nationality he was? We have searched many records trying to research this man but no luck at all. If any one can attempt to help us we would be for ever GRATEFUL to you!!!!! some clues- he moved to Ogle county,Ill.in 1846. where in 1855 he married to Miss Eliza Jane Tice.In 1871 they removed to Tama county,Iowa. and in 1875 to Wayne county where his home has since been. Eight chidren born were born, and nobody can say where his family came from... AS though its not to be talked about or even brought up so the story goes???????? France or Germany? PLEASE HELP...
