GEORGIA THIES, 66, of Melvin, died Monday, May 28, 2007, at Osceola Community Hospital, Sibley, Iowa.
Born Oct. 24, 1940, in rural Rock Rapids, Iowa, she was the daughter of George and Grace Mulder Kruse. She married Daryl Thies March 11, 1960, at First Baptist Church, George, Iowa.
She grew up in rural Rock Rapids and George and graduated from George High School. After marriage, they lived and farmed in rural Melvin. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Sibley, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer and church camp coordinator.
Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Darla (John) Bauer, Sioux City, Iowa; one son, Don (Peggi) Thies, Melvin; mother, Grace Kruse, Sibley; three sisters, Donna Wachter, Sioux Falls, S.D., Carol (Bob) Henning, Sheldon, Iowa, Lorae (Brian) Current, Forest City, Iowa; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Andringa Funeral Home, Sibley.
The service will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Sibley, with the Rev. Tom Voight officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday in Baker Township Cemetery, Melvin.
