Looking for the town in old Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany where James Kruse b abt 1830 came from. I found James Kruse and family in Ancestry.com in the 1870 Census under the misspelled last name of Gruse in Jackson Twp., De Kalb Co., IN with possible 2nd wife Caroline nee Johnson, and children Minnie, Charles, William, Emma, (and Richard later in 1873), along with what looks to be his mother as Sophia age 67. James, Caroline, Minne, and Sophia showing from Mecklenburg Sweden but should be Mecklenburg-Schwerin. It is possible they are related to the KRUSE and BARTELS of Dratow and Rumpshagen region of old Mecklenburg-Schwerin of the John Kruse and Sophia Long lineage. See this lineage at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~indekalb/gen/view/bartels-charles.txt James Kruse b. abt 1830 had a son William b. 1865 who married Ricka Bartels in 1891. Then William's son was Fred Jay Kruse b. 1898 who married Goldie. Their son Russell W. Kruse b 1922 married a Boger and resided in Auburn of Kruse International Auctions. I have yet to find the family in the 1860 Census. They look to have immigrated about 1851-1860. So if anyone knows the town in old Mecklenburg-Schwerin, or the ship, or the family in the 1860 Census, that would be great. Details of what I know on RootsWeb WorldConnect Project: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=vortexindiana&id=I11 See my KRUSE family from Mecklenburg-Schwerin website at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~fkruse/ Any living male KRUSE that would like to get a Y-DNA test to help prove a lineage and find his deep ancestry is encouraged to see my Kruse Y-DNA Project (non-profit for me) at: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/k/kruse/disc.html https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=G19794&special=True Notify Administrator about this message?
