Laabs Family Genealogy Forum

Dear Mr. Laabs:
We are searching for our Laabs family too. Our Auguste Caroline Laabs was born in 1838 in Pommern. She married a Johann F.G. Luedtke, who was from about the same area in Greifenberg, Pommern, Prussia. I understand that your Laabs family lived in Milwaukee, Wi. Our Auguste lived with her husband Johann and their children Max and Anna and immigrated to this country in 1862. They say new settlers to this area arrived with gold coins and could buy land for $1.25 per acre. Our Johann bought 1,600 acres. They had a lots of crops and made their own butter. You can ask at your local library for the census that you need. You ask them to send you the agricultural census for what area you are asking. I accidently found the Luedtke family by mistake. Our Aunt marge's Report states that her name was Auguste Laabs. Is there any connection to your Ferdinand Laabs? Auguste's parents were Cart Ludwig Labs and his wife Dorothea Sophia Kressin. They lived in Treptow. Their children include Emilie Frederike Labs, Carl August Labs and Auguste. We would love to see your information about the Laabs family and would love to buy one of your books. Please contact us for how much it would cost? Also please have a look at our website at myfamily. The username is: Dobberpuhl, Password: Susan. We are in the midst of writing a family book ourselves and collecting information. Please also look under Trudy Treur and Mitch Blank. They have phots and such. Trudy has a list of number for pommern areas with family history numbers where one could search at a mormon local history center. We are just over delighted of our new ancestry relatives that we have found since 2001 and we hope that you are one of them.
