Ferdinand and Clara Laabs, along with Evelyn, are also listed on the 1920 Federal Census living in Niwot, Colorado (listed as Ferdeand Laabs because it was hard to read on the census0. Brother-in-law Albert Torrison lived with them during this time. Ferdinand was a butter and cheese maker, and Alfred was a laborer for the same employer. In 1930 the Laabs are no longer in Niwot, but Alfred is still there, married to Dollie with adopted daughter Wanda. Alfred was listed as a mechanic in 1930.
