Greetings, I'm researching a Jean (Jan, Jans, Janz) Labadie (Labatie, Labatte, Labittie) who was supposedly born in Verdun around 1600, arrived on the ship Rensselaerswyck in 1637, and lived in Ft. Orange (now Albany), NY. He is reported to have a daughter Susannah Jans Labattie who married Martin Beekman in abt. 1645. She is reported to have been born in 1624 in Ft. Orange which is very unlikely. Her mother could have been a Mohawk maiden or Jillisje Claes Schouw, widow (or future bride) of Harmense Myndert van den Bogaerdt. It's quite a puzzle and I'd love to know more about him. Any help greatly appreciated. Jenny Warden 8th great grandaughter of Susannah Notify Administrator about this message?
