Many thanks for this possible lead. The Francis LaBarre I'm seeking was a Washington, DC, "refugee" to Confederate Richmond, VA, who was a worker in gold and silver, so the post-war location in Baltimore and the trade of "tinner" seem consistent. While in the Confederacy, he had a contract with the govt for brass cipher devices and evidently sought a contract to produce medals. His name was clearly LaBarre, etched or stamped as such in metal. Whether the Francis LaBarre(r) sought elsewhere on this site is the same man, I don't know, but the location and possible alternate spelling are useful to me.
