I am also looking for a Michel LaBatt. He was a fur trader on the Missouri River at first later with the American Fur Co in Mendota Mn. My Michel was married to Angelique Wabasha daughter to Chief Wabasha. But that doesn't mean he's not the same as your Michel. I find that there are often multiple marrages. There was a lot of diseases and some women died in childbirth. My Michel was born in Quebec,Ontario so we have always been told. He had 4 sons and one daughter Archange. Son Francois was also a fur trader He was married 3 times 1st Nana Coussi,2nd Judith Prevost,Brisbois(her 2nd marriage)3rd Mary Iron Shield.
Francois's daughter Mathilda married Vanoss Robinette (my gt grandparents.) Francois was killed in the Indian uprising in 1862. One of Michels sons lived in Detroit the other 2 in Canada. These are children with Angelique he might have had other children by previous wives.
