In Loudoun Co., Va. we find the recorded Will of ABRAHAM LAY, SR. in 1785 and an inventory record for 1773 for SYLVANEUS LAY. Abraham Lay Sr. is also cited as a Patriot in the Revolutionary War. He furnished supplies for the Army.

Abraham and Sarah Lay had the following children: Abraham Jr., Stephen, Joseph, Emanuel, Sylvester, Prudence, Lydia, Helena, Abigail, Leana and Athesis Lay. Abraham’s will was probated in Leesburg, Loudoun Co., Va. in 1784. The will of Sarah Lay, wife of Abraham, was written 12 Nov. 1789 and probated 25 Jan. 1799, recorded in Fairfax Co., Va.
       Attest:       “Gleanings from Virginia History” by Booger; Register of Ky. Historical Society; DAR Magazine; Loudoun Co., VA. Court records.

.1.       Zachariah Lay was born in 1775 and died ca. _____ in Fayette Co., Tenn. He had married Anna Terrell, born in Maryland in 1775, died in Fayette Co., Tenn., ca. 1853. The entire family had removed into Lincoln Co. and Jackson Co., Ga., before going to Tenn. Their children:

              5.1.3.       Zachariah Lay Jr., m. 1823 Aurella Speller, children:

5.1.1.       Henry Harrison Lay, son of Zachariah and Ann Terrell (?) Lay, g.son of Emanuel, g.g.son of Abraham, was born in Ga., 12 Oct. 1805, and married in Jackson Co., Ga., 13 Apr. 1830, Tressie Smith (b. 11 Nov. 1812). He moved to Tennessee, then to Alabama and later to Texas. While he was in Fayette and Haywood Co., Tenn., he signed the Estate Settlement of his father’s estate, being one of the heirs, on 09 Nov. 1849. He is enumerated in the 1850 Census for Cherokee Co., Ala., along with his wife and children.

       I notice there’s a Miss Lay that runs a motel in Stamford, Texas. I’m going to try to contact her. My husband’s brother lives there.

       I must sign off; have so much to do. Hope you can read this. Have written in a hurry. I don’t type. Has been nice hearing from you.
