Records of Jackson Co. GA show an 11 Aug 1823 marriage between Zachariah Lay Jr. and AMEILA SEPller. This came off database=Georgia marriages to 1850@Ancestry.com. Also, there is a Zacahariah Lay listed on Pg 021 of the TN 1830 Federal Census in Fayette Co. TN. Source database=TN Census, 1810-91@Ancestry.com. They may have had a daughter Martha b ~1828 GA., who married Andrew J. Rickman; listed as couple on the 1850 census in Haywood Co. I have no documentation Martha Rickman was nee Lay. Just series of coincendences. Like Lays in Haywood during same time frame. And Lays and Rickmans in same AR county in mid 1850s and together again in Lavaca Co. TX before 1860. Best I can determine, Martha fits in the 1830 census as part of Zach Jr. family. Amelia makes more sense than Aurella as a woman's name, but if keypunchers made Speller into Sepller, who knows. Any input? Sure could use some help. Jack Rickman Notify Administrator about this message?
