In First Settlers Agnes Baldwin took this reference to "James" Lenoir from the Moore/Simmons Abstracts of SC Wills 1670-1740 which contains a mistranscription of Isaac Lenoir as James Lenoir from the 1687 Cesar Mose will. So this is an error. A John Lenoir owned a plantation in South Carolina when he died in 1727 but SC deeds describe him as "of Barbadoes" as does his will leaving property to wife Martha and son Robert.
