My great-grandfather Asher LEVY came from Poland circa 1874, married Augusta LEMKE shortly after. Surname was supposedly changed from POSMONTIER (or similar, e.g. POSMANTIER, PASMENTIER, POSMANTIR, etc.) to LEVY upon or after arrival. My grandfather Louis born Paterson, NJ 1875. Another son, Robert changed surname to POSMONTIER after his marriage and that line exists in Philadelphia and suburbs.

Would like any helpful information. Thank you.
