Sophia Lewer was the wife of Allen Lewer from England. Her maiden name was Ring. I believe both are buried near Tauranga. Incidentally where my sister in law lives.
Richard and Sophia Lewer are direct descendants of mine from the earley 1800 hundreds. They came from Godalming in Surrey.
There are lots of other bits and pieces on genforum re the Lewers.
The really early Lewers arrived from France in the 11th century.At one time a Lewer owned Odiham Castle but lost it when he backed the wrong king and gor his head chopped off.
