PIONEER LEWIS FAMILIES by Michael L. Cook
IS NOW AVAILABLE ON MICROFICHE. Please be advised
Cook Publications is the only publisher of Pioneer
Lewis Families. There are no plans to reprint these
large volumes in book form due to the prohibitive costs.
A source for all Lewis researchers! Presents detailed
lineage for every Lewis family that the compiler has
been able to find and research in 17 years, including
data from hundreds of other researchers. Each time a
volume was published it contained supplemental and
additional information on the persons in prior volumes
or entirely new groups of Lewis families. That information
may include Family Bible records, abstracts of wills, deeds,
court records, orphans accounts, marriage records, etc.
Volume I & II, (sold as a set, index is in Vol. II) - Total
of 2451 pages, 8 1/2 X 11, with small print size, allowing up
to 50% more on each page than the standard book. All names
indexed with index to both volumes in the second volume.
Index has approximately 23,500 Lewis names, 36,000 names
other than Lewis, and a 23,000 entry geographical index
telling where each person lived, was born, died, married,
etc. when known. (1978), 41 microfiche, $103.00 ppd.
Volume III - Supplement Volume adding much information,
347 pages, 8 1/2 X 11. Index has approximately 2,650
Lewis names, 4,900 names other than Lewis, and a 1,600
entry geographical index. (1980), 6 microfiche, $15.50 ppd.
Volume IV - Supplement Volume, 1597 pages, 8 1/2 X 11, the
result of additional research (much burned-record
counties of Virginia), plus data from 109 researchers. Very l
ittle duplication, just enough to clarify. More than
doubles the amount of information previously know on the
Lewises of Warner Hall family and covers 230 pages,
plus data on several hundred other families. Corrects many
errors in books that have been long-standing, some over
a hundred years. Hundreds of documentary abstracts. Every
state except Hawaii, tremendous amount of Virginia,
Kentucky, New York, and a very large amount on many other
states. In lineage form with emphasis on 1600's and
early 1700's. Answers many questions, clarifies and shows
relationships not previously known. Index has
approximately 10,500 Lewis names, 26,300 names other than
Lewis, and a 8,300 entry geographical index. (1984),
27 microfiche, $68.00 ppd.
Volume V - Supplement Volume, 954 pages, 8 1/2 X 11. This
volume makes the connection for many Groups to other Lewis
families and is produced in small print giving twice as much
on a page as a standard book. There is a tremendous amount of
additional data on a great many of the families treated in
Volumes I, II, II, and IV. There are new Lewis lines that are
not in prior volumes. Hundreds of documents quoted. Every
state except Alaska and Maine. Heavily represented are ALABAMA,
ARKANSAS, CALIFORNIA, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, KENTUCKY,
MISSOURI, NEBRASKA, NEW YORK, NORTH CAROLINA, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA,
TENNESSEE, TEXAS, and VIRGINIA. Other states have sizable data.
Many "discoveries" never before published. The volume is the
result of thousands of hours of research, plus information from
many researchers and family members. Index has 7,300 Lewis names,
12,500 names other than Lewis, and a 6,500 entry geographical
index. (1986), 16 microfiche, $40.50 ppd.
