The Lillards I have in the subject appear with my FORD ancestors in the Lewis County, Missouri censuses of 1840, 1850 and 1860. The Fords have a son (David Lillard Ford) named for David Baldwin Lillard. I am trying to establish the connection - very close friends or actual relatives? Both families are from Gallatin (now Carroll) County, Kentucky, but I don't know if they moved to Missouri together.
Parenthetically, David B. Lillard seems to have moved to Santa Clara County, California by 1860 although his father Jeremiah V. died in Missouri and his widowed mother Louisa stayed in Missouri, as did the Fords.
