I am not researching these people, but I have a magazine with a little information. "This Historic Towns of Washington Co., Collectors Series 2" mentions "Prosperity - in 1773 Demas Lindley and others came from Morristown, New Jersey, looking for a fertile valley to make a new settlement. They found that the valley here however, due to its fertility, was also home to many Indian tribes. Therefore Lindley's Fort was built in 1774 to protect the settlers from hostile Indians. In 1781 Demas Lindley and Thaddeus Dodd started the Upper Ten Mile Church and in 1782 Thaddeus Dodd ran a Classical School."

Pictured is "Prosperity Store at the Crossroads, the 5th building down on the left side as you enter Prosperity from the North. One of the early proprietors of this store was Mary Brownlee Lindley."

"Lindley's Mills - originally called this due to the mill located here. It is now called Plumsock.
