The following OBITs were taken from The Times Herald Record Newspaper in Middletown, Ulster Co., New York. FREDERICA LOCKWOOD Newburgh, N.Y. Frederica Lockwood of Newburgh, a retired claims clerk for the Social Security Administration in Newburgh, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in the Hudson Valley Nursing Home in Highland. She was 85. The daughter of the late Clifford and Grace Miller Lockwood, she was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Newburgh. Survivors include one sister, Grace Kirby of Newburgh; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Clifford Lockwood of Maryland; and one sister, Pauline Bogart Griffin of California. Visitation will be private. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, to which relatives and friends are invited. Arrangements under the direction of White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Road, Newburgh. EDWARD GEORGE LOCKWOOD Winterton, N.Y. Edward George Lockwood of Winterton, N.Y., a retired heavy equipment operator for McKee Sand & Gravel Bloomingburg and a lifetime resident of the area, died April 25, 2002, in Horton Memorial Hospital in Middletown. He was 80. The son of the late Clarence and Katherine Evon Lockwood, he was born November 16, 1921, in Winterton. He was a World War II Army Veteran. Survivors include his devoted longtime companion Bettyann Baker of Godeffroy; his "Grandson" Joseph M. Smith Jr of Port Jervis and his Great Grandson Sebastian Alexander Smith and other area relatives. Visitation will be held on Saturday April 27, 2002 from 10-2PM at the funeral home. Services will be at 2PM in the VanInwegen-Kenny Inc Funeral Home 111 Sullivan St Wurtsboro, N.Y. The Rev. Betty A. Beach will officiate. Burial will be in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery. Frank "Curly" Lockwood of Wallkill, a retired corrections officer and a lifetime resident of the area, died Friday, April 19, 2002, in Wallkill. He was 77. The son of Edward Lockwood and Eunis Shaw Lockwood, he was born June 16, 1924, in Newburgh. He was a WWII Army veteran, who proudly served in the 5th Ranger Battalion. He participated in the invasion of Normandy and while serving with this elite unit he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with seven battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, Distinguished Service Unit Badge, Good Conduct Medal, NY State Conspicuous Service Cross, The French Croix DeGuerre, and was an associate member of the American Order of the F.C.D. Survivors include his wife, Freda Foos Lockwood, at home; two sons, Frank Robert Lockwood, of Herkimer and William Edward Lockwood of Newburgh; two daughters, Terry Shields and her husband, Lance of Modena and Irene Eunice Bryan and her husband, Bob, of Wallkill; a brother, Edward Lockwood of Avon Park, Fla.; several grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Ada Irene Greenfield Lockwood. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Shawangunk Reformed Church, Hoagerburg Rd., Wallkill. The Rev. Richard Bierwas will officiate. Burial will be in Bruynswick Rural Cemetery in Wallkill. Arrangements were made by Wallkill Funeral Home. ELIZABETH TORRENS LOCKWOOD Vista, Calif. Elizabeth Torrens Lockwood "Bibis", who grew up in Newburgh, passed away on June 16, 2004 at the age of 82 in Vista, Calif. She was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Class of 1939, and her enjoyment of all things musical lead her to Fredonia State College where she earned her music degree. She was the wife of the late Clifford Charles Lockwood, also from Newburgh, who died in 1998. Mrs. Lockwood is survived by her sister, Mary M. Torrens of Newburgh; her sisters-in-law, Grace Kirby of Newburgh and Janet K. Torrens of Fairport; her five children, William Lockwood and his wife, Chris, of Raleigh, N.C., Helen Fortner of San Leandro, Calif., Chuck Lockwood and wife, Susie, of Fallbrook, Calif., David Lockwood and wife, Robin, of Conyers, Ga., and Richard Lockwood and wife, Paige, of Poulsbo, Wash. In addition Mrs. Lockwood is survived by 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family and for her generosity in giving of her time and energy to others. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Memorial services are pending. Donations may be made to the music ministry of Patuxent Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for the past 30 years, 23421 Kingston Creek Rd., California, MD 20619; or to Alzheimer's Association.
