I am researching, on behalf of a friend, the family of Henry Loe (1828-1894) of Brant Co., Ontario who lived in the Village of Mt. Pleasant.
His wife was Charlotte Watson (1853-1902)and they had children; Martha (1877-1903), Henry (1879-????), Amy (1885) & Lucy (1886)
They were likely married in England around 1876 as their eldest dau is apparently born there in 1877.
By the time of the 1881 census they are back in Ontario.
There is a persisting family story of Henry Loe being descended from the line of Sir Hudson Lowe who gained fame (infamy?) as Napoleons jailer while he was in exile. The name Loe is apparently what the name was changed to when the family refused to be associated with Sir Hudson.
If anyone has information regarding the family of Henry Loe or the connection to Sir Hudson Lowe, I would be most grateful to hear from you and share information.
