My grandfather Franz Maack died on the western frontier in 1918 or so. My father Willi Oswald Maack (b. 1913, d.1998) moved to Finland after that and changed his surname later to Maalampi. I have learned from Robert Maack, a cousin of my father, in Hamburg in 1983 that about ten of the siblings of my grandfather moved to America in the end of the 19th century. I have never heard anything of them or their families but I would like to.
