Linda Ticehurst Kent. It seems (from notes taken from IGI) that here was long-term stronghold of MABBs e.g. William MABB married Joanne WHITE 16 Feb 1659. John MAB m. Ann GIBBS 7 Dec 1671 Mary MABB (dau of William MABB/Mary) christened 20 Mar 1744 Elizabeth MABB (dau of John MABB/Deborah) chr 3 Sept 1758 Ann MABB m William Carrick 8 Mar 1794 John MABB m Martha Cole 27 Apr 1794 Frances MABB m Thomas Martin 23 Jul 1798 Thomas MABB m Winifred Page 12 Mar 1833 Alfred MABB m Sarah Colvin 21 Jul 1844 (I have notes of a few more) Wadhurst (which halfway betwen Ticehurst and Frant): Thomas MABB m Mary Tavey (or Pavey) 25 Oct 1744/45 Rebecca MABB m William Clapson 6 Aug 1760 Joseph MABB m Sarah Smith 12 DEC 1831 Frant (about 9 miles from Ticehurst) Richard MABB m Frances Weaver 28 May 1864 the earliest MABB (that I have found) anywhere near Ticehurst/Wadhurst/Frant is Robert MABB son of John MABB, chrstnd 15 June 1561 Eastbourne. Looking at the dispersal of MABB (MABBE MAB MABBS)from mid 1500s onwards seems they might have been spreading out north but mostly west from Eastbourne. hope some of this interests you - you may also like to view my recent postings under MABBS in this forum and my comments re the variation of names. however please note that I am no expert in these matters my own interest is mainly in the Selsey/Chichester MABBS and the branch (James and Sophia MABS)that took off for London (Brixton) about 1800 and stayed in the central London area for several generations. Michael Mabbs
