Abel and Lewis Mabreey were sponsors when Drury Fiers was Christened in Sussex County, Virginia, 5 Dec 1770. Two other Fiers/Fires researchers and I are compiling information about our ancestor, William Fiers/Fires. We would appreciate any insight into why the Mabreys might have been selected as sponsors. Were they related to the Fiers or the Davis families?

Note: Albemarle Parish was established in 1738 in what is now Sussex County, and the earliest entries were made that year.
