Linda, so far I have only 2 more pieces of info on Mary AcArthur - both death notices. Women were somewhat "anonymous" at the time and more info was given on their husbands. My Mary was wed to John Young Moffat (they would be my gr-grandparents). They had one child only - Charles Henry Moffat. Her funeral card reads as follows ..... DIED at Edge Hill on Friday, January 26th, 1906 MARY MCARTHUR wife of John Moffat, age 50 yrs THE FUNERAL Will leave her late residence on Sunday, January 28th at 2:30 p.m. for Durham Cemetery Friends and acquaintances will please accept this intimation I could send you a copy of the newspaper article if you like. It says "the funeral was one of the largest ever seen for some time upwards of 158 rigs being counted in procession to the Durham Cemetery. Mary and John lived on Conc 2 near Edgehill on the Moffat farm that his parents (Charles and Christina) built. Their one son lost 2 wives and Mary passed away early, so John and son Charles sold the farm and built a house (which I live in) in Durham. I have not yet completed sorting old papers from the attic. I remember a few tales told by my Dad (grandson of John and Mary) about life in "The Glen" (Glenelg, east of Durham). The only other info I have already posted, being a notice for a reunion with pioneer info. There must have been another reunion in the late 1960's as I remember attending - held in Priceville. I have many unidentified old photos. Would you have a photo of Mary or family?? I may be able to use them to add more from my collection. Sandy Notify Administrator about this message?
