He is possibley the same John Laing Macaulay wo m. in 1893 in St. Giles, London.
Born April 1831 to Duncan Macaulay and Jean Laing. Duncan and Jean were living at the time at St. Mary's Parish, Edinburgh. They had married in Edinburgh on Sept. 27, 1827. Duncan was a teacher in Edinburgh and Jean was living in Cardross, Dunbartonshire.
Duncan is a possible son of Aulay Macaulay and Catherine Leitch, b. in Cardross on 7 Dec 1792.
